Fatal Fire In Kirkcaldy

A woman has died after a fire broke at a flat in the Lang Toun in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Crews from Kirkcaldy and Burntisland were called to Kinninmonth Street at 1.51am.

Four firefighters in breathing apparatus entered the heavily smoke logged property to conduct search and rescue operations. 

The woman was rescued and treated by paramedics but died at the scene.

Fire Investigation Officers have confirmed that an investigation into establishing the cause of the blaze has commenced and they're working closely with Police Scotland.

Group Manager Alex Smart said: “The loss of life through fire in the home is utterly devastating and the thoughts of everyone are with those involved in this tragedy.

“This tragic loss of life must always bring home the importance of working together to prevent fires and raise awareness of how to be safer from the risk of fire in the home.
