Extending The Voting Age

A bill to allow 16 and 17 year olds the right to put pen to paper in Scottish Parliament and local elections has been published.

Lowering the vote age was just one of the recommendations put forward by the Smith Commission.

All the main political parties at Holyrood, and UK wide, support the move.

If given full backing during the final vote, young Scots could be entitled to have their say during the Scottish election in May 2016.
