Enhanced Devolution Back On The Agenda

Former Prime Minister Gordon Brown will present a petition in the Commons later as he leads a debate on Scottish devolution.

It comes as the chair of the constitutional reform committee calls for the three main party leaders to engage with its devolution inquiry.

Graham Allen says he's dismayed that David Cameron, Nick Clegg and Ed Miliband have declined invitations to appear before the committee.

Labour MP Mr Allen says the Westminster leaders engaged directly with the people of Scotland immediately before the referendum and made significant promises to them about the future.

And he's disappointed that, as the committee meets in Edinburgh, none of the three has accepted his invatation to set out their visions on the future of devolution in the UK.

He'll be renewing his invitation once Lord Smith publishes his proposals, around the end of next month.
