Edinburgh Airport Pilots Google Glass

Edinburgh Airport staff will pilot using Google Glass to help customers.

The glasses show the wearer a mini computer screen, and uses voice and gesture commands

It's hoped workers will provide up-to-date flight information, translate various languages, and deal with general enquiries.

The trial runs until December.

Chief executive Gordon Dewar said the trial showed they were thinking "out of the box".

The airport's welcome team is testing the system in the check-in hall to establish how best they can use it.

Mr Dewar added: "The fact that it's the first trial of its kind in a Scottish airport is exciting as it shows we're leading the way in how we interact with our passengers.

"Over the next few months we'll be able to establish whether this product is suitable for an airport environment."

Edinburgh Airport is Scotland's busiest airport, dealing with close to 10 million passengers in 2013.
