Dunfermline Road Ban

Safeguards have been put in place on a notorious Dunfermline road following a spate of accidents.

Vehicles longer than five meters can no longer travel on Coal Road.

It follows a number of incidents where lorries have got stuck, causing damage and delays.

Councillors say anyone who ignores the signs will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

Councillor Helen Law, chair of the City of Dunfermline Area Committee, said: “There have been a number of incidents on Coal Road where large vehicles have got stuck, causing damage, delays and danger to other drivers. Despite signs warning drivers the route is unsuitable for large vehicles, these incidents continue to happen. This new restriction should bring an end to this problem.”

Fife Council says the restriction is enforceable, placing a legal responsibility upon the driver to find another route.
