Dunfermline: Magic Makes 18 Disappear

Dunfermline Athletic are releasing 18 players at the end of the month.

The list includes the likes of Andy Barrowman, Ryan Thomson, Gregor Buchanan and Ross Millen, who are out of contract on May 31.

New manager Allan Johnston wants a "smaller, better quality" squad and to 'maximise' his budget.

Speaking at a Supporters Council meeting Johnston, nicknamed 'Magic' during his playing days, said next season's squad will be "tighter" but 'hopefully better quality.'

He said: "I think that is what we need since the league position that we finished in emphasises that it just wasn't good enough. We need to freshen up the squad and this is a great opportunity to do that with so many players leaving.

"Now it is about recruitment and making sure that we get the right players in to get a winning team on the park."

The club also say Partick Thistle are keen to recall goalkeeper Ryan Scully after a season on loan.
