Draft Budget Proposals

Fife House

People across Fife are being reminded that the draft budget consultation closes on 13th January.

Last year, Fife Council revealed that £77million must be saved by 2018.

An online draft budget consultation will close next week before formal plans are published in February.

Councillors are urging members of the public to have their say.

Depute Council Leader, Lesley Laird said: "With the run up to Christmas it's such a busy time for people so I really just want to say thank to everyone who turned out at the various events held in December or participated in the school and youth events held across Fife. Aside from the formal events, Councillors have also been out and about in communities speaking to local residents and hearing their views on the budget proposals.

"We've also tried some new things this year, with Council Leader David Ross hosting an online conversation on Facebook, and the volume of online interest is very encouraging – so thanks to everyone who's participated by that route.

"We've had some very interesting conversations and gathered lots of feedback on our draft proposals and it’s fair to say there is quite a variety of views.

"The last formal meeting is in Benarty on Wednesday 7th but there's still time for people to have their say on Fifedirect. If you have not yet done so please take a look as we're posing some big questions about how we might save £77M and also about where we should continue to spend and save for the future."
