Dogs Summit Aimed at Reducing Attack Rates

Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill to host a summit in Edinburgh to get tough on dangerous dogs.

The Justice Secretary will host a summit on how to deal with dangerous dogs later.

The event in Edinburgh was set up by the First Minister last year after he met victims and families of people injured or killed in dog attacks.

Figures show there's been a 17% rise in incident rates since 2010 in Scotland with more than 1, 000 reports of attacks last year.

A consultation is underway to look at introducing universal microchipping, licensing and the wearing of muzzles in public areas.
