Police in Cowdenbeath say people are being targeted by 'distraction' thefts.
Known as 'Ringing the Changes', fraudsters ask for a quantity of bank notes to be changed into other denominations or notes from a specific bank. They then distract the person behind the counter and keep some of the cash. Officers say those involved are predominatnly of Eastern European origin. Shop and bank staff are being urged to remain on guard.
