Diageo Offers Jobs to Former Tullis Staff

The Diageo packaging plant in Leven is offering jobs and apprenticeships to former Tullis Russell employees

A major Fife firm says it will replace as many workers made redundant by Tullis Russell as it can.

Diageo is extending opportunities in its packaging plant in Leven to staff who were made redundant last week, when the paper mill was placed into administration. 325 employees lost their jobs, with nearly 150 more going once outstanding orders are filled.

Yesterday, Fife businesses joined forces with Skills Development Scotland to fill existing vacancies and offer new career opportunities to former Tullis Russell workers.

Caroline Hair, HR business partner at Diageo Leven Packaging, said:

"Having spoken to quite a number of people, I know that a lot of people have got long service at Tullis Russell, and it must be very concerning coming back onto the job market. I think anything that other employers in the area can do to support people in that position and to help them back into roles is great.

"We're sitting in the heart of Fife, we've got current vacancies, we're really passionate about bringing good people into our business. It's clearly quite devastating what's happened to the people at Tullis Russell. I think this is a time when the community comes together and we try and give people the opportunity to see other vacancies, other opportunities."
