Deaths confirmed as dozens test positive for coronavirus at Fife care home

A number of people have died at a Dunfermline care home after an outbreak of coronavirus.

A total of 67 people linked to Canmore Lodge in the town have tested positive for Covid-19 - 35 residents and 32 staff members.

NHS Fife has not confirmed the exact number of deaths, but says it is fewer than five.

Dr Esther Curnock, the health board's deputy director of public health, said: "We’re saddened by the deaths at Canmore Lodge Care Home and our thoughts are very much with their families’ and loved ones at this really difficult time.

"We are working alongside our colleagues in the Fife Health and Social Care Partnership and Fife Council’s environmental health service to support the managers of the care home to try and prevent further transmission of the virus, and ensure that the standard of care for all residents is maintained."

Dunfermline Athletic have tweeted about it this morning:

Yesterday, two deaths linked to coronavirus were confirmed in Fife - taking the total number of deaths linked to Covid-19 in the Kingdom to 166.
