Consultation Opens On Kennoway Post Office Move

Proposals are in place for Kennoway Post Office to be to be moved to Millerfield stores.

The Post Office is proposing to move Kennoway Post Office from its current location to create a modern open-plan local-style branch with extended opening hours.

Post Office local is a new concept for delivering Post Office services and the new Kennoway branch would offer Post Office products and services from an open plan service point integrated into the retail counter, instead of from a screened counter.

The proposed new location for the branch is Millerfield Stores, 2 New Road, Kennoway, Leven, KY8 5JS. This is 160 metres from its current site at 2 Bishops Court, Kennoway, Leven, KY8 5LA, and the Post Office is now inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the move in a six-week public consultation.

Should the move go ahead, the branch would open from 6am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and 8am to 10pm on Sunday. This would be 64 hours a week more than are currently offered.

The proposed move is part of major modernisation programme across the Post Office network designed to make it easier for customers to do business, through longer opening hours and modern open plan environments.

Suzanne Richardson Post Office Regional Manager said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Kennoway and we are confident that this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.

She added: “This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and marks a commitment to no more branch closures programmes.”
