Concerns Over Tax Office

Concern is mounting that Glenrothes Tax Office could close.

The Public and Commercial Services Union says around 60 members of staff are in fear of losing their jobs.

It's after the government announced plans to consider closing the office.

Local PCS branch chair of the Gary Stein said: “PCS members are opposed to this closure and have the support of local MP Lindsay Roy.

"Many staff feel they cannot commit to working further afield but if this office closes, redundancy may be their only other option.

"This will be a blow to jobs locally but also seems nonsensical at a time when HMRC should be focussing on collecting tax not paying off the people who are qualified to do just that”
