Talks are taking place in London over controversial housing plans set for Dalgety Bay.

Former Prime Minister Gordon Brown's will lead local representation when meeting bosses at Shell, who're selling off land near Mossmorran power plant.

Persimmon Homes have approached the council locals asking to build 150 houses on the 10 acre site.

They're calling for the site at Barns Farm to be handed into community use, because the site was given to the energy firm for transporting ethane and ethylene near Braefoot Bay and thus shouldn't be sold for profit.

Locals also say the area's schools and health services can't cope with that many more residents.

The Community Council believes the land should be kept within community use and that further house building is "too big of an invasion" of the Greenfield areas surrounding Dalgety Bay.

Mr Brown said: “It’s time to ask Shell to support the local community requests.

“The original public meeting a few weeks ago secured an attendance of 250 people. We need to show again the community wants to keep the land in Greenfield use. And that the pressure on services would mean Dalgety Bay is overstretched in its schools and medical facilities.

“Along with Alex and Colin, I will report back on Friday at the community centre to a meeting of local residents."
