'Cold Call Zone' For Levenmouth

Cold callers are being cracked down on in Levenmouth

Police in Levenmouth are proposing setting up the first cold call zone in Fife.

The aim is to prevent dodgy doorstep traders from operating in the area, with wlderly and vulnerable people are at most risk of being conned.

Residents will receive further information of the importance of the zone in stopping people calling at their doors offering goods or services.

The consultation events will take place on Monday, April 20, between 2-4pm, and Thursday, April 23, between 6-8pm, at the Jeek Fleming Suite at Bayview Stadium, Methil.

All residents of Dubbieside, Methil, and their families are invited, to find out how this will assist them in stopping doorstep crime and how the police, trading standards, fire service and council can support them.

Police Sergeant Colin Falconer said:

“This has shown to be a good prevention strategy, reducing the level of doorstep crime activities and providing additional support to vulnerable members of the community.

“The success of this zone, is reliant on the support of the residents of Dubbieside. With this in mind I hope they are able to attend these consultation days to see how our partners can help to reduce bogus crime in their area.”
