Checkpoint near Leven is not related to coronavirus outbreak, says police

Police Scotland has told Kingdom FM News the checkpoint set up near Leven this morning is not related to the coronavirus outbreak.

Officers have been speaking to drivers to get information about a stolen car in the local area.

It was reported there were long queues on the A915 between the town and Windygates.

The force acknowledges people are asking questions about the current situation, after the Prime Minister's announcement last night asking people to stay at home to limit the spread of COVID-19, except for limited reasons.

Boris Johnson says a review will take place in three weeks time.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "I appreciate there might well be people asking questions about coronavirus to our officers during this but I can confirm, this has nothing to do with the recent restrictions on movement."
