Charity Hopes Award Will Attract Volunteers

A Fife charity's hoping to help more vulnerable adults after being given the Royal seal of approval.

The group's been awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service - the equivalent of an MBE for their local services.

The charity, which supports over 60 long-term partnerships and has a a waiting list for more, has been awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.  The award is the equivalent of an MBE and is the highest award that can be given to a volunteer group.

Rachel Annand, Chief Executive said: "It is a great honour, not only for us as an organisation but for our many volunteers who give up their time freely to support vulnerable people living in West Fife.”

The organisation is premiering a film at the Odeon in the town at 7.30pm, after receiving funding from the Rotary Club of West Fife to pay for the production.

The Vice-Lord Lieutenant of Fife, Fiona Robertson will be attending the film premiere and the Lord Lieutenant of Fife, Robert Balfour will be presenting the charity with their Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service at a later date.  

Some Staff, Citizen Advocates and Advocacy Partners from Dunfermline Advocacy will also be invited to attend the Annual Royal Garden Party at Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh on the 1st July.
