Centenary Celebrations For Scottish War Blinded

Charity set up after World War One is holding events across the country.

Charity Scottish War Blinded is celebrating a centenery of suppporting veterans by asking more to come to them for help.

The organisation was set up to assist soldiers left visually impaired by poison gas in World War One and now has groups across the country.

They're holding reunion lunches and an exhibition in Edinburgh to mark their anniversary this year. The exhibition "A Century of Expanding Horizons" will highlight the achievements of people supported by the charity over the last 100 years.

Scottish War Blinded Chief Executive Richard Hellewell says: "It's good to recognise how far our charity has come in 100 years from our earliest days providing training for veterans.

"Since our establishment 100 years ago today, we have helped Scottish veterans to expand their horizons irrespective of their visual impairment."
