Cash For Cancer

More than one in two people will be diagnosed with cancer at some stage in their lives.

But figures reveal, survival rates have doubled since the early 1970s.

Women across Fife are being encouraged to don their running shoes to raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK.

Race for Life will take place in Kirkcaldy on Sunday 28th June 2015.

2, 500 women and girls are being encouraged to take part to raise £160, 000 to fund vital research.

Angela Wilson, Cancer Research UK’s Fife Event Manager, said: “Race for Life events are not competitive. They are not about being fit or fast. It’s about an army of women crossing the finish line together in the fight against cancer. Whether you’re a running pro or novice, every step you take around the course will help bring us one step closer to the day when all cancers are cured.

“The atmosphere is incredibly supportive and pledging to take part, alongside thousands of like-minded women, is a great motivation. With fire in their bellies and trainers at the ready, we know that Fife ladies are up for the challenge.”

Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life, in partnership with Tesco, is an inspiring women-only series of 5k and 10k events which raises millions of pounds every year to fund research to help beat 200 types of cancer.

Last year, 1900 women took part in Race for Life in Fife and raised a fantastic £120,000.
