A mandatory carrier bag charge is poised to come into force in Scotland.
From October 20th, all retailers in Scotland will charge at least 5p for every new carrier bag they give to shoppers.
The charge will apply to all types of carriers, including plastic, paper and biodegradable.
Many retailers, including Marks & Spencer, have already introduced the measure.
A campaign will be launched today to raise public awareness.
