Cancer Charity Walk Seeking Volunteers

Thousands of women are expected to join the walk through Edinburgh - in their bras

Hundreds of volunteers are being sought to help at this year's Moonwalk - the annual breast cancer fundraiser in Edinburgh.

Organisers are looking for people to hand out water and keep the site tidy, among other jobs, on 13th June at Inverleith Park. Participants this year are being invited to walk anything from 6.55 miles, to 52.4 miles as part of the Over The Moon challenge.

The event is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Organisers breast cancer charity Walk the Walk are inviting people to join them by signing up for one of four different challenges to raise money and awareness. The Red Hot Chili Pipers will be playing ahead of the event at midnight.

Sally Orr, from Walk The Walk, said:

"We need cyclists for the Over-The-Mooners, the ones with the huge challenge. We need people giving out water, we need people on site to help keep it tidy, there are just so many different roles.

"The theme this year is mad hatter's tea party, so obviously we're very excited to see how people use their imagination to design their bras. It's become the trademark of Walk The Walk, and seeing people walking at midnight in decorated bras through the streets of Edinburgh is quite a sight."
