Calls For Mandatory Death Inquiries Intensify

MSPs are to consider the introduction of mandatory public inquiries into deaths determined to be self-inflicted or accidental.

The parents of a Lochgelly man, who died seven years ago, are at Holyrood to urge MSPs to introduce the measures.

Colin Marr's death was deemed inconclusive; however his family does not believe the injury was self-inflicted.

The practice already happens south of the border.

Alan McCloskey from Victim Support Scotland is supportive of the move

But Stephen McGowan from the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service believes the current system here is sufficient:
