Call For End To Boxing Day Hunts

Fox hunting is a boxing day tradition for many

Animal welfare campaigners are calling on the Government to make sure this year's traditional boxing day hunts are the last.

Chasing foxes with dogs was outlawed in Scotland in 2002, but many say the legislation's not strong enough.

Earlier this year, SNP MPs at Westminster made an intervention which prevented an amendment to the Hunting Act in England and Wales intended to  weaken the law south of the border.

The party also committed to a review of the law in Scotland.

A recent survey by the Countryside Alliance predicts that around a quarter of a million people will turn out for annual Boxing Day hunts across the UK.  Hunting still takes place every year in Cupar.
