Brothers aim to raise £50,000 for Fife mum to get multiple sclerosis treatment in Russia

An online fundraiser is aiming to reach £50,000 to help a Fife mum get treatment for multiple sclerosis in Russia.

Catherine Anderson, who is from Kirkcaldy, was diagnosed with the condition seven years ago.

Multiple sclerosis can affect the brain and spinal cord.

She had to retire early from her dream job as a nurse after symptoms progressed very quickly.

Catherine struggles to walk or carry out simple daily tasks.

So far, more than £15,000 has been raised through gofundme.

The money is being put towards haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) treatment, which isn't widely available in the UK.

According to the MS Society, the treatment aims to stop the damage the condition causes by wiping out and then regrowing the immune system, using stem cells.

It's hoped the treatment can improve Catherine's quality of life.

You can see a video clip of John and Michael Anderson speaking to Kingdom FM about the fundraiser.
