Broadchurch Star To Run For Gordon's Fightback

The Broadchurch actor was best man at Gordon Aikman's wedding

An actor from ITV's Broadchurch is taking part in the London Marathon to raise money for Kirkcaldy man Gordon Aikman's fight against Motor Neuron disease.

Jonathan Bailey, who played reporter Olly Stevens in the show, says he'll 'trot, skip and cartwheel' the 26 mile course - because doctors have warned him he can't run. He was the best man to Gordon's partner Joe at their wedding last month.

Launching his fundraising drive today, the 26-year-old actor said he hopes to raise over £5,000 for MND Scotland. He said he was “bursting with immense pride” knowing that he can help raise vital funds for MND research:

"It's a truly exciting time to be supporting MND as throughout Gordon's extraordinary year, he has fought back: lobbying for better care and raising over a quarter of million pounds for MND research.

"I will be bursting with immense pride knowing that we can help raise money for MND Scotland, supporting the continuing the incredible work of Gordon to ensure a brighter future free from MND."

Gordon Aikman said:

"Jonathan has been a massive support to me and Joe over the last few months. He is a busy boy so I’m delighted he is taking time out from filming to complete the London Marathon for MND Scotland.

"Please dig deep. Every penny raised takes us closer to cure the disease that is killing me."
