Bridge Delays 'To Be Expected' This Weekend

Traffic will be reduced to one lane each way on Saturday and Sunday morning

Drivers should expect delays on the Forth Road bridge this weekend as essential repairs are carried out to damaged concrete.

Traffic will be down to one lane both-ways until 9.30am this morning, and between 8pm tonight and 10.30am tomorrow morning. Queues are expected entering and leaving Fife - but the cycle and footpaths will remain open.

Angus Bruce, Principal Engineering Manager with operating company Amey, said: "Last week we carried out an emergency repair to the surfacing on this damaged section of carriageway in order to make it safe and prevent damage to vehicles using the bridge.

"We now need to go back in and carry out a permanent repair to the concrete underneath, however this will take two full nights including the time it takes for new concrete to cure. By scheduling these works overnight we hope to minimise disruption to traffic using the bridge, however some delays are still likely first thing in the morning on both Saturday and Sunday. Our advice is to allow extra time for your journey if you need to travel at these times."
