Bridge Closure Means Parking restrictions In Dunfermline

Police Scotland and Fife Council have been working together to deal with the additional pressure being put on the public transportation system, due to the temporary closure of the Forth Road Bridge.

It has been agreed, with Fife Council, that a Temporary Traffic Restriction Order is required to deal with the parking challenges in the Queen Margaret Fauld area of Dunfermline.

This means that cones will be placed to prevent parking in certain areas. If motorists choose to park on the coned area, they can then be issued with tickets by parking attendants.

It also means that the whole of the Queen Margaret Fauld housing estate has been made a tow away zone.

Vehicles parked on the coned areas, causing an obstruction or parked dangerously can be towed away.

Inspector Ian Flynn, of Dunfermline Police Station, said: “We are trying to reach a compromise between the needs of the residents and the needs of the commuter.

''There will still be parking within the estate. In general terms, cones have been placed on one side of a road to allow motorists to park on the other side of the road. This will allow the free flow of traffic and a footpath completely free from parked vehicles.''

Fife Council has allocated extra parking at the football field at the east end of Robertson Road, Dunfermline.

Stagecoach are providing a shuttle service between the Halbeath Park and Ride and Inverkeithing Railway Station, as well as a shuttle service between Ferrytoll Park and Ride and Inverkeithing railway station. Information can be found on their website.
