Bras Take Over Edinburgh

Thousands of women - and a few men - will don decorated bras and walk the streets of Edinburgh tonight.

They're taking part in the annual Moonwalk, which raises money for breast cancer charities.

Walkers aged between 10 and 80 will set off around midnight on a variety of challenges.

Some will do the 6.5 mile New Moon, others will complete a half marathon. Many will be taking part in the Full Moon marathon, and 100 brave participants will walk two marathons back to back - a total of 52.4 miles.

Many of this year's bras are being decorated with a Superhero theme.

The Moonwalk began in 1998 when a group of women who'd been powerwalking marathons in their bras failed to get enough places on the London Marathon. Instead they set off the night before and walked the route before the official event began.

It was such a success that it quicly became a major annual event in its own right.

The Moonwalk came to Edinburgh for the first time in 2006 and since then the Scottish leg has raised around £17 million for charity.

It's run by Walk the Walk which distributes the money to organisations like Maggies and the NHS.

Founder and Chief Executive Nina Barough has been telling us more about tonight's event:
