The body of a pensioner has been recovered from the sea off the coast of St Andrews.
A large-scale search, involving Police Scotland, the Coastguard and the RNLI, got underway last night.
The body of a 60-year-old man was recovered from the water.
Enquiries are continuing today to establish what happened.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police in Fife attended St Andrew’s Harbour on Tuesday 4th August where the body of a 60-year-old man was recovered from the water by the Coastguard at around 9pm.
“Enquiries into the full circumstances surrounding the death are ongoing and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
