The body of a woman has been found on Leven Beach.
Kinghorn RNLI lifeboat volunteers were called out just before 12.30am to assist in the search for an elderly woman who'd been reported missing.
Crews had just reached the Buckhaven shoreline when the discovery was confirmed. The RNLI says the deceased is understood to be the missing person.
A spokesman for Kinghorn Lifeboat Station said ‘Our thoughts are with the family of the casualty at this difficult time.
‘The circumstances of this incident are unknown.’
Also in attendance were Kinghorn and Leven Coastguard Rescue Teams, Police Scotland and Fife Fire and Rescue Service.
The lifeboat returned to station and recovered around 1.30am.
