Bid To Name Plane After Fife Toddler Takes Off

The campaign to name the plane after Edie has captured thousands of hearts

Thousands have voted online for a Fife toddler who died after a short illness to be commemorated - by having a plane named after her.

She was unresponsive to tests over a number of days, and died on October 16th.

Over one-hundred-thousand people have taken part in the competition, being run by holiday firm Thompson, to name their new 787 Dreamliner 'Edie'.

Her mum Cheryl says it would be a fitting tribute to have an aircraft emblazened with her name:

More details on the competition, and your opportunity to vote, can be found here. It closes on November 16th.
