Benefit backlog hits cancer patients

It's being claimed that Scottish cancer patients are struggling with basic living costs because of huge delays in processing a vital disability benefit.

 

Almost 30 percent of those surveyed for Macmillan Cancer Support have waited six months or more to find out if they quality for the new Personal Independence Payment. Peter Hastie, from the charity, is telling us the switch from disability living allowance has led to a massive backlog:
