Bank Closure Fears

A Labour leadership candidate is calling for RBS to withdraw plans to close branches.

Royal Bank of Scotland has earmarked 154 branches for closure this year.

It's because of a 30% drop in the number of customers visiting branches and a rise in online banking.

Labour MSP Neil Findlay claims there has been no engagement or consultation with local communities of the UK taxpayer.

He fears that further branch closures will leave communities without a bank and is calling on management to re-think their plans.

Mr Findlay will raise the issue at Holyrood this afternoon.
