Arrest Following 30 Break-Ins

A man has been arrested for more than 30 housebreakings in North East Fife over the past 16 months.

The 37 year old allegedly broke into several commercial properties in St Andrews and Anstruther between January 2014 and April 2015.

He was charged by officers on Friday, and will appear at Dundee Sheriff Court at a later date.

The incidents were investigated as part of Operation RAC, which continues to operate across Fife after launching in December 2013.

Detective Sergeant Alec Raeside said the arrest came as a result of "a robust investigation".

He said: “Housebreaking remains a priority for Police Scotland, as we recognise the impact it has on peoples lives and businesses within the local community.

“Operation RAC is our response to this type of crime and through this we ensure that every effort is made to apprehend those responsible.

“The public can help us with our efforts to reduce housebreaking throughout Fife by ensuring they have appropriate security in place at their homes and buildings.
