Appeal Following Pensioner Assault

Police in Kirkcaldy say they've had a positive response following an appeal to trace a man who assaulted a pensioner.

The woman, in her sixties, was held against her will at around 10 O'Clock on Saturday morning at an address in Harris Drive.

The suspect has been described as around 30 to 40 years old and officers say he may have visible injuries to his face caused by a struggle with the victim.

Police say the man was wearing a black zipped jacket with a brand logo on one of the shoulders and zipped pockets on the chest area. He was also wearing distinctive ‘Police’ brand blue denim cargo jeans, which had long straps to the front.

Witnesses have reported seeing a person fitting the description leaving a block of flats leading to a communal area dividing Davar Drive and Harris Drive.

Detective Inspector John Anderson said: “This was a terrifying ordeal for the victim that took place in her own home and we are eager to trace this man as soon as possible.

“Anyone who recognises his description or saw anyone acting suspiciously in the Harris Drive area is urged to come forward. People may also have seen him before or after the incident elsewhere in the Templehall area.

“I’d like to reassure the community that we are currently pursuing all lines of enquiry and will have a highly visible police presence in the area whilst we carry out house to house enquires, and review CCTV footage. I would encourage anyone with any concerns to please speak to their local officers or contact police on 101.”
