Appeal After Supermarket Assault

A supermarket worker's allegedly been bottled at a shop in Glenrothes.

It's claimed the worker was hit on the head after refusing a customer an alcohol sale.

Police say the young woman sustained a head injury, and was left badly shaken by the unprovoked attack at 9.45am on Friday.

Officers are appealing for witnesses, and are looking for a man in connection with the assault.

Detective Inspector Steven Hamilton, leading the investigation said: “At about 9.45am on Friday, a man entered the Asda and without any provocation or warning assaulted a female member of staff.

"The young lady sustained a head injury from which she required medical treatment.

"This ordeal has left her badly shaken and her friends and colleagues express understandable concern.

"Extensive enquiries have been undertaken and a man is now being sought for this incident.

“I must  stress that we are not linking her place of work as relevant to the attack motive and we do not believe anyone else is at risk at this time.

"That said, it is vital we trace this man as soon as possible and I am seeking the assistance of anyone who may have seen the man.

"He is described as 5’10” tall, slim build, dark hair, wearing black rimmed glasses and with facial stubble.

"He was wearing a light coloured jumper, light coloured shorts with tight leggings underneath and black training shoes, and was carrying a rucksack and a blue and green tubular bag.

"Anyone who was in the area of ASDA Glenrothes from early evening on Thursday, October 2 until the late morning of Friday 3rd October is asked to call Police Scotland on 101 or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
