Anti-Cold Call Scheme Extended

Parts of Fife will become "No Cold Call" zones to protect vulnerable people from rogue traders.

Police say a pilot of the scheme in Glenrothes was successful and they're considering Dubbieside in Methil next.

Officers say the area has historically had a problem with cold callers, additional roll outs are to take place in Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy in the next 6 months.

The initiative is run in partnership with local Trading standards and the Trusted Trader scheme.

Police Sergeant Colin Falconer said: "With the assistance of the residents in cold call zone areas, appropriate signage, target hardening of the area and educating and supporting vulnerable people these Cold Call Zone can be as successful as Glenrothes.

"Residents of Dubbieside, Methil, will be provided with information packs, over the next month, and a series of public consultation days will be organized to increase public awareness and assess the support of the all local residents before implementation.

"The support of the residents in this area is paramount and Police Scotland hope that the residents of Dubbieside, get fully behind this prevention initiative, aimed at supporting vulnerable people."
