Animals are 'being looked after'

Fife Council is to seek legal powers to re-home the animals at Fife Animal Park, which is now closed to the public.

The zoo is owned by Peter and Jocky Lockhart and run by Fife Animal Trust, which announced the closure on its website on Monday. It said it would make clear the reasons later. Roy Stewart, a senior manager at the council’s protective services, said he wanted to reassure people that the animals were being looked after. Although the council doesn’t own the park, he said it had a duty to protect the animals, and they’d been helped in that by the SSPCA and other animal welfare groups.
