Advent Anxiety Impacts Over 50% Of People

It’s supposed to be the season of festive cheer, Christmas parties and pure indulgence but it's not all tinsel and merriment for everyone.

Almost half of adults (45%) in the UK say they have ‘Advent Anxiety’ - a festive-based state of stress that experts say affects people throughout December.
Those aged 25-34 feel it most - with a quarter of people saying Christmas is more stressful than a trip to the dentist.

But Christmas gets better as we get older. Around a third (31%) of over 65s suffer from Advent Anxiety with almost three quarters (69%) finding Christmas stress-free.

One in five people finish their shopping last minute on Christmas Eve with a quarter of men leaving all the gift grabbing to the very last minute. Women are twice as likely to suffer from Advent Anxiety compared to men.

Anxious feelings also come from family arguments (20%). For a fifth of us (20%) wrapping presents and delays in our online orders being delivered (17%) are causes for concern.
