A section of the A92 between Bankhead Roundabout in Glenrothes and Redhouse Roundabout in Kirkcaldy is to benefit from resurfacing improvements as well as essential bridge maintenance following a £380,000 investment from Transport Scotland.

The improvements are the third set of works to be completed on the A92 Thornton Bypass in recent months, with just under £1million worth of upgrades carried out since September.  These works will be split into two parts; bridge maintenance on the River Ore Bridge will begin on Monday night followed by the resurfacing works on the southbound carriageway from Friday.

The River Ore Bridge deck joints will be replaced on both carriageways and is planned to take place over four consecutive nights starting on Monday 23 November.  The first two nights will see the closure of the northbound carriageways and the fast lane on the southbound side.  The second two nights will see the closure of southbound carriageways and the fast lane on the northbound side.

The resurfacing works will begin on Friday 27 November at 7.30pm and is programmed to take place over one weekend using 24 hour working. The improvements will be completed by 6.30am on Monday 30 November.  This will require a full closure of the A92 southbound carriageway between Bankhead Roundabout and Redhouse Roundabout.

During the northbound closures, all northbound vehicles will be diverted off the A92 at the Chapel junction and then diverted via the B981, B922 and B921 where they can re-join the A92 at Bankhead Roundabout.

During the southbound closures, all vehicles heading south will be diverted off the A92 at Bankhead Roundabout and then diverted via the B921, B922 and B981 before re-joining the A92 at Chapel.
