£150k Boost For Fife Park

A Fife country park has been given a £150,000 pound boost from a commonwealth games legacy fund.

The money will develop new mountain bike trails and build a new golf clubhouse at Lochore meadows. It is hoped that it will attract more sports fans to Fife.

The existing clubhouse for the 9 hole golf course is a small wooden hut and consists of a starter area and small room with no toilet facilities. The new facility will include a community space area, cafe, toilets, changing room, and community room for uses by the club & wider use to support golf development activity

Lochore Meadows Country Park already has 8kms of Blue Grade mountain bike specific cross country trail. The existing trails will be improved and damaged trails repaired to allow them to open again. The new trails will link existing facilities and form a cohesive route with 3,540m worth of trail to be added.

Alistair MacGregor, Chief Executive of Fife Golf Trust said:

“This support is fantastic news for the many golfers and visitors to Lochore Meadows. Fife Golf Trust, Fife Council and the local Lochore Meadows Golf Club will now be able to work together and plan a Community Golf Club House that will provide the essential infrastructure and facilities required to deliver Golf Development initiatives that will help encourage more people to play.”
