12 deaths at Fife care home after Covid-19 outbreak

Twelve residents at a Fife care home have died after a coronavirus outbreak.

NHS Fife says 30 residents and 21 staff members at West Park Care Home in Leslie have tested positive for Covid-19.

A statement from the health board said: "Sadly, 12 people have died after contracting Covid-19 and our thoughts are with their loved ones at this difficult time.

"Visiting is currently suspended, and the care home is closed to new admissions.

"NHS Fife’s Health Protection Team and the Fife Health and Social Care Partnership are working closely with Fife Council’s Environmental Health Service to support to the management of the care home and offer advice to reduce further transmission of the virus.

"Anyone experiencing the well-established symptoms of Covid-19, regardless of how mild, should immediately self-isolate and arrange a test using the NHS inform website www.nhsinform.scot  or by calling 0800 028 2816.

"A local online support hub has been created to provide information on testing for Cpvid-19 and updates on the pandemic. Visit www.nhsfife.org/coronavirus."

Kingdom FM has contacted management at the home for comment.
