Two men charged over a series of housebreakings across Scotland, including in Fife

Police arrested and charged two men in connection with a series of housebreakings across Scotland, including in Fife.

The incidents happened between Friday 12 February and Tuesday 9 March in a range of locations including in Rosyth.

Incidents also happened in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Airdrie, Cumbernauld and East Calder.

19-year-old Thomas Keenan, whose general address is Walsall, appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.

He faces nine charges, including abduction, assault and robbery and housebreaking with intent to steal.

Keenan made no plea and has been remanded in custody.

His next court appearance is scheduled to take place within eight days and the case has been committed for further examination.

Also, a 22-year-old man has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

Meanwhile, officers want to identify and trace a car which has reportedly been used across a number of these incidents.

The vehicle is described as a metallic electric blue Vauxhall Insignia VXR with a black grill and oversized alloy wheels.

Inquiries are ongoing and anyone who might have seen the car or has any concerns matching the vehicle matching this description is being asked to contact police on 101.

Detective Inspector Kevin Tait of Edinburgh Division CID said: "This has been an extensive investigation involving colleagues from across Police Scotland and I am grateful to everyone who has assisted our enquiries to date.

"These enquiries remain ongoing and we are particularly keen to identify and trace a car which has been reportedly used across a number of these incidents.

"This vehicle is described as being a metallic electric blue Vauxhall Insignia VXR with a black grill and oversized alloy wheels.

"If you believe you may have seen this vehicle in these areas at that time or have any concerns about a vehicle matching this description in your area now, particularly around the West of Edinburgh, then please call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
