A maths and guidance teacher from St Andrews, who lost his battle with Motor Neuron Disease, is being described by one former pupil this morning as a man who 'inspired everyone around him'.
Donald Grewar taught at Madras College, but was diagnosed with the incurable illness in 2014.
Known affectionately by his pupils as "Mr G", he continued to help pupils online via a Facebook page and took part in half marathons while in a wheelchair, raising over £40,000 for MND research charities.
At the 2018 Kingdom FM Local Hero Awards, he won the 'Unsung Hero' category.
He died on Sunday 6th January.
Many of his fundraising attempts were organised and spearheaded by Brynja Duthie, a former Madras College pupil from Cupar.
She is paying tribute to the teacher who became a close friend during his illness:
