Shop worker attacked during robbery at Fife newsagents

Police are hunting for two men who attacked and robbed a Fife shop worker.

The incident happened at around 6.40am today at a newsagents on High Street in Burntisland.

Both men entered the shop, assaulted the staff member and stole £500.

The worker suffered minor injuries but did not need hospital treatment.

Police have described the first suspect as a white male in his early 20s, around 6ft with a slim build and no facial hair.

He was wearing a dark hooded top at the time of the incident. 

The second suspect is described as a white male, also in his early 20s, around 5ft 6in with a slightly stocky build.

He was wearing a red bandana covering his nose and mouth. 

Detective Sergeant Andrew Miller of Fife CID said: "Thankfully nobody has been seriously injured as a result of this reckless act but the member of staff has been left evidently shaken. 

"Although this happened early in the morning, we are appealing to anyone who has any information surrounding the incident. 

"If you noticed anyone acting suspicious in the area or anyone matching these descriptions, please get in contact with officers.

"Police can be contacted on 101 quoting incident number 0420 of 29/09/20."
