Police appeal for witnesses after pedestrian killed on the A917

Enquiries are continuing after a pedestrian was killed following a two car crash in East Nuek.

At around 6 o'clock last night on the A917 between Anstruther and Pitenweem a motorcycle and a jeep crashed causing the death of a 53-year old woman.

She died at the scene and the 45-year-old motorcyclist was taken to hospital for further treatment following the fatal two vehicle crash.

A police spokesperson says: "The incident happened around 5.55pm on Thursday, when a Jeep motorcar, a Triumph TT600 motorcycle and a 53-year-old female pedestrian were involved in a collision.

"Police and emergency service attended, however the female pedestrian sadly died at the scene.

"The 45-year-old male motorcyclist sustained a number of injuries and was taken to Ninewells Hospital, Dundee for further treatment.

"Inquiries are currently on-going and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal. 

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2743 of November 16."
