Man dies after major Glenrothes rescue operation

A man has died after a major rescue operation in Glenrothes.

Emergency services, including the police, ambulance and fire service, were called to the River Leven at around 10:30am yesterday.

The air ambulance was also in attendance at Riverside Park.

A specialist water rescue team was there as well.

The man's body was recovered and it's understood, according to police, he is still to be formally identified.

The A911 Leslie Road in the town was shut to traffic while the emergency services carried out its work.

In relation to yesterday's incident, a police spokesperson said: "Police Scotland can confirm that the body of a man has now been recovered from the River Leven in Glenrothes following an earlier search."
