Kingdom FM visits Dalgety Bay beach as work to clear radioactive contamination starts

Kingdom FM has spoken to the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) as work to clear radioactive contamination from Dalgety Bay beach started today.

More than three decades ago, radioactive material was first detected at that beach.

Scotland's environmental regulator recently issued the final permit for work to be carried out by Ministry of Defence contractors.

Work will run until this October, before starting again next April.

Restrictions have been in place since 2011.

But there is hope that the public will get to enjoy unrestricted access to the beach once the work is fully completed.

Anas Hassan has a video report that can be watched above.
