Out of hours GP services in Glenrothes are set to be scrapped, following a recommendation to Fife Health and Social Care Partnership.
Members of the partnership's board will be asked to approve a new service on Friday which doesn't include a Glenrothes base.
However, a treatment centre is set to continue operating in St Andrews, which HAD been earmarked for closure.
MP for North East Fife, Stephen Gethins, said: "The news about Glenrothes is very disappointing, for a number of my constituents who live in that area."
"That's why both Jenny Gilruth and I have been taking strong representation that we need to take the needs of people into account in this process"
