Tayplan 'Should Consider' St Andrews Rail Link

Rail visitors to St Andrews must get a bus from Leuchars station

Campaigners are calling for a St Andrews rail link to be considered by Tayplan.

The development plan covers Dundee city, Perth and Kinross, Angus and North East Fife. Starlink has been calling for a trainline to the University town since 1989 - at the moment it's served by a bus from Leuchars station. It has also been noted that a new Wormit station would be made more likely by the creation of a St Andrews line, as it could be considered as a calling point between Dundee and the town.

Jane Ann Liston is the group's convener, she says they have turned to campaigners who repoened Alloa station for advice. they successfully campaigned for the reopening of their station in 2008, to great success:
